Sunil Benimadhu is CEO of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) and is a regular speaker on Emerging/African Financial Markets. He is Chairman of Global Finance Mauritius (GFM), the apex body of private Financial Services sector operators. He is on the Board of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), an association of the World’s leading Stock Exchanges. Sunil was President of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), an Executive Committee member of the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) and chaired the SADC Committee of Stock Exchanges (COSSE). He. He holds a M.B.A. in Finance and Investment, a D.E A. in Development Economics and a Maîtrise in Macro-Economics from France.
Bronwyn Corbett is the CEO of Mara Delta Property Holdings. She has significant corporate finance and deal making experience and has played an instrumental role in the JSE listing of Delta Property Fund Limited in 2012 where she held the positions of CFO and COO prior to taking up the leadership role at Mara Delta. During her tenure at Delta Limited, Bronwyn spearheaded the diversification of the REIT’s funding sources into the debt capital markets, leading to the establishment of a ZAR2 billion Domestic Medium Term Note Programme (DMTN programme).
Shamin A. Sookia joined Perigeum Capital as Managing Director as from July 2016. This follows a 30-year career spanning across various fields including auditing, taxation, management and consultancy services, global business and financial restructuring.Shamin was also the Head of Listing at the Stock Exchange of Mauritius ( SEM ) from years 2005 to 2016, where he was actively involved in the development of new and innovative products in the context of SEM’s strategic shift to move up the value chain of listed and traded products.He has also been instrumental in creating the enabling space for international ventures to list and raise capital on the SEM with the setting up of the regulatory framework in relation to ETFs, Structured Products, Specialist Debt Securities & Eurobonds and Global Business Companies.Shamin is a Fellow member of ACCA and CIMA as well and holds an MSc in IT (Business Information Systems & an MBA in Marketing
Samuel de Gersigny is currently the Director of Moka Smart City, he joined ENL a decade ago in the real estate division of the group where he developed a strong experience in all different trades connected to property, from commercial to design and project management. Samuel holds of a Masters in Management from the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises of Toulouse and an MBA from Universities of Paris Dauphine and Panthéon Sorbonne.
Spearheading the planning and development of Uniciti on the West Coast of Mauritius, Olivier Desvaux de Marigny leads the master planning, urban planning strategies and deployment of all projects and components within the Medine Group’s smart city, as well as the smart initiatives earmarked as part of the city’s sustainable development strategy. Olivier is responsible of promoting social and technological innovation, investigating and devising business development strategies, engaging residents over multiple channels and experimenting new approaches to create better urban living within the city. As the main interlocutor with public bodies, investors, consultants and experts, Olivier is the guardian of the successful implementation of Uniciti’s vision.
Michael Denenga is a partner at Webber Wentzel and a finance and investment funds attorney with 15+ years’ experience, including with the treasury departments at Standard Bank and Investec Bank. He specialises in the formation of investment funds and treasury documentation and has structured various private equity funds and hedge funds in South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Guernsey. His expertise has been recognised by a number of international ratings agencies, including Chambers Global, Best Lawyers and IFLR1000. Michael was an African Legal Awards finalist for Attorney of the Year. He has a B.Com and an LLB.
Sachin Mohabeer is Head: Real Estate and Hospitality, Economic Development Board, Mauritius. The EDB formulates economic policies and periodic plans and stimulates the development and growth of the economy by promoting a competitive export platform and an international investment, business and service centre. Sachin has developed and managed several property development schemes including the Integrated Resort Scheme, Real Estate Scheme, Invest Hotel Scheme, Property Development Scheme and Smart City Scheme. Sachin has experience in the development of several mega projects and providing advice to other project structuring startup companies. He is now facilitating development of 10 smart cities in Mauritius.
Didier Viney joined DTOS to head their Africa Desk. He holds Honours in Economics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Strategy. He is an Associate Member of St Hugh’s College, Oxford and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He spent ten years working for the largest Mauritian commercial bank, in Mauritius and in Mozambique, and gained experience in fund management, leasing, project finance, private banking, wealth management, and corporate finance. Didier also spent six years working for the Tanzanian operations of a major Mauritian sugar player as their Financial Controller.
Joel Couve de Murville is Head of Sales and Marketing for Novaterra and a key stakeholder in the development of the Beau Plan Smart City. He holds a B.Com: Management and Industrial Psychology. Joel has significant experience in International Marketing. Based in London, Joel perfected his skills in management, international development and market studies. Novaterra, through its Smart City in Beau Plan, envisions to become an important economic pole with employment opportunities. Sharing Novaterra’s vision of responsible and sustainable development, Joel spearheads a market-driven strategy which will integrate the last trends in terms of real estate projects, business and lifestyle.
